A Little Happiness - Hebe Tian

English Lyrics by Vicky Huang

Verse 1:

I hear the raindrops falling on the sweet grass

I hear the schoolbell ring as we finish class

But one thing I don't recall hearing today

Is you, calling out my name

Back then I didn't understand how I felt

Only when you left did I feel it myself

Why did I not realize me meeting you

Was the best thing in my life?

Prechorus:

Is it cause I was preoccupied with smiling,

With laughing, crying, chasing all of my daydreams

Oh, why do people just naturally

Forget who faced the rain and stood beside them through everything?

Chorus:

I realize you're my most precious memory

The little happiness we could've had, now out of reach

Your choice to fight the world alongside me

All the rain's company

Couldn't wash what I see,

Your genuinity

I believe fate made us meet

But now I've lost the right to wipe down your tears, as we speak

I only hope that in your life you'll be

Spreading your wings, you'll meet

Your precious destiny

How lucky she will be

Verse 2:

Tumbling through the wildernesses of life

Beautiful hindsights from our childhood nights

You gave me courage, how'd I forget to say

Thanks for helping me find my light

Prechorus:

Is it cause I was preoccupied with smiling,

With laughing, crying, chasing all of my daydreams

Oh, why do people just naturally

Forget who faced the rain and stood beside them through everything?

Chorus:

I realize you're my most precious memory

The little happiness we could've had, now out of reach

Your choice to fight the world alongside me

All the rain's company

Couldn't wash what I see,

Your genuinity

I believe fate made us meet

But now I've lost the right to wipe down your tears, as we speak

I only hope that in your life you'll be

Spreading your wings, you'll greet

Your precious destiny

How lucky she will be

I loved this song the first time I heard it. The nostalgia, the reluctant yet abundant gratitude, the letting go -- this song makes my heart feel sad and full, both at the same time.
