How Are You Now? - Eric Chou

English Lyrics by Vicky Huang

Verse 1:

Are you still, never quite on time

Working late and not sleeping fine

Promise me after you reach your dreams

You'll rid these habits from your mind

I let my pride break all our love apart

Let it waive me doing my part

But what it secretly hides behind

Is fear that you don't want my heart

Chorus:

Can we continue crying till we're laughing

till we don't know why?

Can we continue fighting till we're smiling

'till we're old and wise?

I wonder how -- how are you now?

Please don't rush to throw these memories out

I just need you right by my side,

angry or upset is fine

Let my good sides take away

all the bad, make it right

You used to say "I love you" no matter how

How can we go back to that night?

Hey, how are you now?

Verse 2:

Only God knows I can't bear this pain

Regrets start pouring in like rain

Can we once more, just hug it out

I'll do whatever, no complaints

Chorus:

Can we continue crying till we're laughing

till we don't know why?

Can we continue fighting till we're smiling

'till we're old and wise?

What do you say? Are we okay?

Why am I so scared to know our fate

I just need you right

By my side, angry or upset is fine

Just don't use letting go
Teach losing those that mean the most

Don't say, you used to love me too

Just let us go back, tell me how

How are you now?

Chorus:

Can we continue crying till we're laughing

till we don't know why?

Can we continue fighting till we're smiling

'till we're old and wise?

I wonder how -- how are you now?

Please don't rush to throw these memories out

I just need you right

By my side, angry or upset is fine

Just don't use letting go
Teach losing those that mean the most

Don't say, you used to love me too

Just let us go back, tell me how

How are you now?

This song just contains so much emotion. It's definitely one of my favourite let-my-heart-out ballads, and his soft-yet-powerful voice never fails to make my cry internal tears. The first time I heard it, I knew I wanted to cover it. Eric Chou has become my favourite Chinese singer, and I just felt like I had to share it somehow :')

(don't forget to turn the captions on 🙂)
